The creator, William (Bill) H. Lentz, jr., is a life long outdoor enthusiast, and credits his dad, Bill Sr., a native of Whitefish, Montana, with getting him started in the outdoors.
Bill started writing outdoor articles in high school and had a column in his high school newspaper entitled “Willy’s Wild Wilderness”.
He attended Humboldt State Univ. in northern California majoring in wildlife management, with a journalism minor. In college Bill met Pete Haight of Brooklyn, New York, who was a student of the legendary fly fisherman Fran Betters franbetters.com Pete taught Bill the art of fly tying, and fly-fishing for winter steelhead remains Bill’s favorite type of fishing.
While in college he took an archery course, and bought his first compound bow. He is an avid bowhunter.
He is an official scorer/measurer with Safari Club International (SCI) and is on the California Records of Big Game staff.
He is a member of the Outdoor Writer's Association of California (O.W.A.C.)
He is an environmentalist but against liberal environmentalism. He believes in "sunscreen gases" (excessive gases mixed with particulates have always had a cooling effect on the earth's atmosphere) not "greenhouse gases". He believes in personal responsiblity not government control. He believes that decisions and choices should be made using logic, not feelings and emotions. And that animal rights and environmental groups, although well intending, are upsetting natural processes (mother nature), as well as our economy, and that the groups are complicit with government expansion and higher taxes.
